Important Considerations for International Travel

In addition to airline and destination requirements, we recommend reviewing and preparing the following:

  • Airline rules, including required health documents, approved crate specifications, and pet eligibility
  • Regulations from your pet’s country of origin
  • Entry requirements for the destination country
  • Coordination with the state veterinarian for paperwork, pet passports, and travel permits
  • Any additional treatments required by specific countries, such as tapeworm or parasite prevention
  • Rabies titer testing, if mandated by the destination
  • Export and import permits
  • CDC documentation, if applicable
  • Any supplemental paperwork required by the destination country
  • Guidance from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) on pet travel

Careful attention to these details helps ensure a smooth, safe journey for your pet.
